Residential Support
Community Living Elgin offers various forms of residential supports across Elgin County including Group Living, Supported Independant Living and our Family Home program.

Staff assist residents in developing important life skills, encouraging them to speak up for their own rights and understand their responsibilities within their homes and communities. In addition, support circles of family and friends are developed and these groups meet at least once per year to set goals as determined by the individual.

Group Living
In group living programs, three or more adults share a home in which 24-hour care is provided. These homes advocate independence while providing each person with the care they need to live safely and healthily in their homes and communities. Support circles of family and friends help individuals set and meet goals in their lives.

Supported Independent Living
Focusing on developing independent living skills, CLE staff provide support to people in their homes or apartments at the level they require. People are encouraged to assume responsibilities within their homes and communities. Again, the support of family and friends plays an important part in helping people determine the direction of their lives.

Family Home
New to CLE, Family Homes allow persons with developmental disabilities the chance to live in a family setting. CLE matches individuals with families who are able to open their homes to assist people in developing daily living skills and connections to the community.

Respite services
To support family life and relieve stress, Respite Services offers planned relief for families and caregivers. Based on individual needs, respite can be provided in the person's or respite provider's home as well as in a community setting. Commencing in the summer of 2010, a Children's Weekend Respite program will enable families with a child with a developmental disability or autism spectrum disorder to apply for a weekend respite stay. Children will be cared for by qualified staff in a home like setting. To initiate respite services, an application must be completed by a family member or referring agency and submitted to CLE. Once the application has been approved contact will be made to initiate the next steps in the process. Additional information on respite options, including forms, may also be found on the Elgin portion of the website www.respiteservices.com

Application Process
All applications for residential programs are administered through a central point of access. For Elgin County, it is the Community Services Coordination Network. Please use the link provided www.cscn.on.ca to find the necessary application package (Access Form).

Aylmer Day Services
Similar to our community connectors and the adult developmental centre, day supports in Aylmer are offered to people in the area of supported employment. volunteer work and recreational and leisure activities.
