Volunteer

Volunteering They teach, play, dress, cook, shop, make music and smile. They become friends and mentors. They are invaluable. They are volunteers. Across the county, Community Living Elgin relies on those who can lend time and skills to assist with programs that help the developmentally disabled live life to the fullest within their own communities. We depend on the talents and big hearts of many volunteers who contribute to the lives of the more than 400 adults, children and families we support.

Available Positions

Interested in volunteering? Whether it’s coaching or companionship, photocopying or filing, raising money or raising spirits, we’ll work with you to find the perfect match. Here are just some of the ways you can make a difference:

Children’s Services: Welcome new families to the centre, assist with regular programs such as storytelling, get involved in or prepare materials for our special activities.

Day Programs: Work with our staff to assist with education, computer classes, recreation, life skills programs, community and social development activities.

Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, typing, answering phones and writing letters.

Residential Programs: Help those residing in our group homes or apartments to become more involved on the community.

Personal Support: Offer one-on-one support through companionship to those in need of a friend. Provide help with cooking, shopping and recreation. Mentor individuals who have part-time employment in the community.

Board of Directors and Committees: Utilize your expertise in government, community relations, finance, management or community service to help people achieve their full potential.
