Call for Volunteer Board Members

Community Living Elgin

Community Living Elgin is currently seeking to fill volunteer Board of Director vacancies for its upcoming Annual General Meeting in June 2025.  The new Board member term would start in September 2025. 

About Community Living Elgin

For more than 60 years, Community Living Elgin has been dedicated to improving the lives, education, employment and community integration opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, and more recently, supporting Early Years children.  Approximately 230 adults, children and families across Elgin County are being supported to live, work and participate fully in community life.

The organization is governed by a Board of Directors, with each member serving a two-year term, renewable up to 8 years maximum.  This is a volunteer Board, therefore remuneration is not provided to Board members.

The Board of Community Living Elgin is a governance Board, and we are currently seeking qualified individuals to apply for the Board who bring one or more of the following skillsets to complement our existing Board members:

·         Legal expertise

·         Business expertise

·         Community leadership – specifically pertaining to St Thomas and Elgin County

·         Communications and/or marketing

·         Not-for-profit knowledge

Qualified candidates must:

·         Successfully pass a criminal record check by a Police Service

·         Prepare for and attend bi-monthly Board meetings (approx. 1 - 2 hours long)

·         Foster a positive working relationship with Board Members

·         Offer meaningful contributions, expertise and experience
